Maybe he would remember Lytton Strachey's answer to the head of a miltary tribunal (he was being questioned as to why he refused to fight in WW1). At one point, the head of the tribunal challenged Strachey by asking, "What would you do if you saw a German soldier trying to violate your sister?" Strachey replied, "I would try to get between them".

I see that our number of active users, our total page views, and our average page views per day have all gone down, though I suppose that might be due to the holidays. Interestingly, our new topics went way up. |

I wish I knew how to analyze this. Interestingly, this month had many fewer "Total Page Views" and "Avg. Page Views/Day" than previously. Yet, there are 38 active users this month, which seems on the high side.

It's always interesting to see the variability in the number of page views per day.

It's interesting to see how often I am in the top ten posters but not in the top ten starters. In a way this is representative of the way I am in life - a good lieutenant but not such a good captain.
In other words, if I know what I have to do I am very good at getting it done. But I am less likely to take the initiative and start some new project. I am not what is commonly called a "blue sky thinker"; I concentrate on getting the details right rather than the overall big picture. It is ironic that, while progress cannot occur without blue sky thinkers, and it it these kinds of people who get the most recognition, the work of those who make sure the job is completed properly is equally important but rarely given so much credit. I can't take any credit for producing the stats. They are supplied by Infopop and sent out every month. All I have to do really is copy and paste them into a new message. I'm glad they're appreciated, though!

Still, it is nice to see them and to compare them from other months...so thanks for doing this, arnie.
Sometimes I find them curious. For example, this month there were significantly more total page views and average views/day...so I'd expect more active users. Yet our active users were way down. Strange. |

Essentially, that means that several topics are being read by more people, but they don't feel moved to post a reply, for whatever reason. To be an active user a member has to make at least one post during the month. The forum lists show several topics started recently with quite a few pageviews, but not many posts.

I have also noticed looking back that with the February last year stats I mentioned we had just passed the milestone of 400 registered members. As mentioned in another thread, we've now just reached our 500th member! We've 502, in fact, as I post. That means we've had 100 registered members sign up in the last year.

Thanks, arnie. I thought we'd had a bit of a down time here, and that's clear by the statistics. Even the active posters decreased, which surprised me because we've had few newbies who have been posting.
