quote: B+ but the third line doesn't work. That's exactly what we would think. If you wanted to fool us, I would suggest something along the lines of: Tonight's a good evening for me. I'll be at the pub drinking TEA. No, it's not what you think, Not an alcohol drink. It's Camillia and Oolong for me! But then you would not be the old familiar R.E. that we all know and semi-love. |

For all your good wishes.
The pub I went to was the Merry Harriers at Hambledon (for the benefit of those interested they had Addlestone's Real Cider; Greene King IPA, Hog's Back TEA, Hop Back Crop Circle and Fuller's London Pride) and it was the monthly meeting of the Rudge Enthusiasts Club. One chap was brave enough to turn up on his 1930 Rudge Ulster - with 18 watt headlights, too! Still, spring's on the way - it's forecast 55 today and all the spring flowers are struggling out. Maybe I'll get the old bike out soon! Richard English |

What are the odds of eight of us all having birthdays in separate months?!
Four more well-placed Wordcrafters and this thread will run forever! |

A belated happy birthday from me too.
Mine's on 9th April so that doesn't help the spread of the months I'm afraid. Vescere bracis meis. Read all about my travels around the world here. |

I count fourteen dates on that list. I'd like to add mine...May 20...and digress a little to talk about the strange nature of probability.
Out of fifteen birthdates, we have a match...Asa Lovejoy and museamuse on Nov.12. Considering the 366 available dates and the completely random nature of this short list, one might think this coincidence to be highly unlikely. Not so. The actual mathematical probability of two matched birthdates out of a list of fifteen is just over 20%. But, here's the rub...if you double the sample to 30 persons, the chance of a match is about 68%. In a sample of 50, there's over a 95% chance that there's a match. At 60, it approaches certainty. This is a great party trick. I've used it to amuse Scout groups. Lots of people won't believe it in advance. Want examples? Out of 43 U.S. presidents, James Polk and Warren Harding were born on Nov.2nd...and John Adams,James Monroe and Thomas Jefferson all died on (of all dates!) July 4th. This is an example of how threads wander off the subject! |

Was Asa born on 12 November? He has only admitted to being a Scorpio so far as I can see from the posts above.

I apologize!
When I read the following quote: I took that to mean that Asa Lovejoy's birthday was on Nov 12. Now I understand that he was quoting museamuse without using the QUOTE format. It's things like this that continue to remind me that as Time Marches On I am slowly drifting into, and showing symptoms of, the inevitable onset of middle age. Hey, Asa, could we ask your birth date, just for the record?? Thanks ~~~ jerry |
