Yes, Richard, that was for your benefit and delectation.

so much more virulent than the Pax Brittanicus

Now, pax is a feminine noun in Latin, so that should be pax Britannica, which of course the British borrowed from the Romans, (i.e., the Pax Romana). (For more Latin lessons, see your compatriots' routine in The Life of Brian.)

;-)

Ooo, cheeky. Wink

At 0800 Hawaii Standard Time this morning I entered the Chat Room and barely had a chance to greet djeimz when the first of my Kaffee Klatsch gang arrived. Then my Browser unexpectedly and unfortunately quit.

I quickly concluded that today is not my chat room day.

Pity.

Oh, I am sorry, Jerry. We missed you! My aerobics class always means that I have to log in at about 12:15 or so (Central time, of course).

I am glad we all agree on the period, now (though I am never sure what z is saying Wink). In fact, I am sure this is the most ridiculous question that has ever been asked on Wordcraft (and there have been some doozies!), but...is marmitily a word? I am sure it isn't because I found nothing about it, but you know me, I tend to be gullible...

A.R.N.I.E, where are you???? We haven't seen you for 3 weeks! Mad In fact, I was about to head to O'Hare to get on a plane and go to your house, when z said he'd call. So...Richard gave him your number, and z tried to call you. No answer. I already have my plane ticket, and if you're not on the chat next week, I'm heading to London!

Yes, we did miss you.

And I hope you knew that I was teasing you, Arnie. Of course we all know that this forum is only used after certain responsibilities are taken care of, such as family, work, etc.

I am happy to announce that arnie made it! Smile

I wasn't able to stay long, but there was a nice array of chatters. I hope you all had fun!

It was a good and vigorous chat - although I had to leave when our son 'phoned from Canada.

Sadly I missed last night's chat. 1800 is a busy time in our household.

Maybe a kind of solution would be that if you're on and you notice others are on the board at the same time, just go into the chat room at that time to chat with them.

Online chat and dinner don't go well together.

Hmm. I very often eat mine from a plate on my knees while we're chatting.

An hour earlier -- or even two hours earlier -- would suit me fine and would allow me to give the chat the full attention it deserves.

The current schedule almost invariably collides with the arrival of real-world visitors who would consider it indecent to come one or two hours earlier.

How would 1700 or 1600 be for the Brits ??

A time change would be fine with me here in Ohio.

Hmm - what time do you leave for your class? Maybe we could meet before then?

I leave at 9:00 a.m. Central time. But it's okay; I don't need to be on the chats. Recently I've felt a little useless (non-contributory) in the chats anyway.

Most of the aerobics classes are during the weekday, and since I work, I can't make them. If I didn't go, I'd be a blimp! Wink

When I suggested a change of the Chat schedule I certainly had no intention of irritating or upsetting Anyone.

If the majority is comfortable with the current set-up, please disregard my suggestion and carry on !!

I'll probably attend about 50 percent and that's okay with me.

Jerry, in no way did you "irritate" or "upset" me (you used those words on purpose, didn't you? Wink). Really and truly, I've been a little off on the chats recently and may need to take a break for awhile. It's no big deal, and certainly nobody's fault but my own.

I wouldn't mind it being one or more hours earlier, but if people want to stay with 1, well, I'll be there when I can. I was out of town two weeks ago, and had a conflict with the time last week, but will check in tomorrow. Is it still at 1? EST or do we want to do noon or 11 (meaning 4 or 5 p.m. in England and 5 or 6 a.m. in Hawaii?)
