With sincere apologies to Messrs. G&S

I am the very model of a modern US President
The latest in a long line who were in the White House resident
I’m decisive in my actions and I’m very rarely hesitant
And all my finer qualities should be perfectly evident
I’ll appoint to highest offices the people who are most like me
And exhibit all signs that I’m a stranger to sincerity
I promised that I’d drain the swamp and do it with alacrity
But if you ask me when then I will tell you to get back to me
I’m good at obfuscation and I’m skilled in my mendacity
Self deception and aggrandisment I have in great capacity
In short of all who’ve been before here in the White House resident
I am the very model of a modern US President

I’ll close the borders, build a wall, make sure the nasty people stay
In countries that I can’t pronounce but know are very far away
I’m chummy with the kind of folks that that others tend to ostracise
With oligarchs and tyrants and with people who may well be spies
I’ll condemn as fake all news that I’d prefer that people didn’t know
And get my daily briefing from my favourite right wing TV show
And say “I’ve heard” or “I’ve been told” if I should tweet into the night
Whatever nonsense fills my head quite certain that it’s watertight
I’ll take away the rights of any group I do not understand
And do it in a way that you may think is rather underhand
In short of all who’ve been before here in the White House resident
I am the very model of a modern US President

The US will be great again when ruled by my benevolence
When scientific fact is not determined by the evidence
But rather by the way that I believe that things are meant to be
Don’t listen to the experts give your uninformed consent to me
You’ll never know the true extent of what I haven’t paid in tax
And outright lies are nothing more than some of my alternate facts
In short, I don’t know how it is that I have reached this pinnacle
When everything I’ve said and done is really bigly cynical.
And the knowledge of the politics that someone here should rightly show
Is rather less than any kid in kindergarten tends to know
But regardless I have now become the latest White House resident
And I am the very model of a modern US president.
