Perhaps you've heard of Leilen Shelton's book, "Banish Boring Words." She considers words like "good," "bad," "fun," "said," "go," "run," "happy," "walk," and "see" as boring. Instead of "said," she suggests, "bark," "howl," "cackle," or "demand." Sometimes it's just "said," isn't it??

I found this great example of what it would look like on the without bullshit blog.

For every person who says "don't use 'said' use 'howl', 'demand' etc." there is another person who says the exact opposite.
My advice?
Develop your own style and your own voice. Don't listen to style advice because the people giving it don't know any more than you do. It's your language too.

I know. It's a bit ridiculous, isn't it?
