Shu had a good idea - perhaps Language Log could figure out what Bret Kavanaugh's yearbook words meant at that time. His explanations were different from Urban Dictionary's, but truly they could have changed since then. They were:

Boofed - flatulence or having sex in the "back door?"

Devil's triangle - a drinking game or sexual position?

Renate Alumnius - A sexual conquest of a girl named Renate - or, as Kavanaugh says, showing affection to her.

Shu might actually have a good idea.

If the last one is showing affection, you would think they would have shown it to her at the time. Just saying.

Also, I don't believe for a moment that "boof" meant flatulence as if it did everyone from that generation would remember it. However, Trump, in British slang, means flatulence so let us give Kavanaugh the benefit of the (virtually non-existent) doubt and congratulate President Boof on his fine nomination. Roll Eyes

A word is not a crystal, transparent and unchanged; it is the skin of a living thought and may vary greatly in color and content according to the circumstances and time in which it is used. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Shu must have been channeling OWH!

That having been said, I nevertheless think Bob's spot-on.

Ah, well, it's too late. He made it in by the slimmest vote in 137 years. His swearing in is tonight, and I was happy to hear that Melania won't be there because of a "previous commitment."

As for the words, yes, Bob is spot on. Glad we didn't waste Language Log's time.
