The new Bluffing Game word is padella. PM me your daffynitions.
ONE measly daffynition?
Get your thinking caps on!
I keep thinking, Kalleh, that I should know that word and think I will recognize it when I see it. I might be mistaken though. I often am. I will try to think of some daffynitions this weekend.
Well, Sattva, I am wondering if you're thinking of Patella...
I wonder if arnie knows what it means. I have high hopes he doesn't, this time. We shall see.
I'll wait post them tomorrow, hopefully in time for Hab to vote as he will be out of town starting on Wednesday.
I forgot and then my dog ate it!
Here they are folks - probably too late for Hab to vote, but I'll vote for him.
1. A torture instrument used during Spanish Inquisition
2. A wool vest
3. Shallow dish of fat with a wick used in illuminations
4. The fleshy organ at the back of the throat
5. A type of hat
6. One of several bones in the knee
7. A courtyard
8. A group of conspirators
9. A small tampon
10.A small, spiny, salt-water fish found mainly in the Northern Atlantic.
11.An old-fashioned name for a barber's chair.
12.A small apartment (originally limited by GenXers with a Latino background but now used more widely)
13.A hunter using a bow and arrow
There are some great ones! Which is the correct one?
Although it's very hot here, I'll try a wool vest.
It's a torture instrument placed in a courtyard, disguised as a barber's chair, that inserts small tampons made from spiny fish, breaks bones in the knee, and gags the fleshy organs in the throat. Used on Latino GenXers wearing wool vests and hats, and on bow hunters.
Since it's now sunny, and under dermatoligist's orders I must wear a hat, I'll vote for #5.
I thought I would recognize the definition when I saw it. I was wrong. I haven't a clue! So, this is a guess. I will choose #8 for the correct one and #3 for the most creative.
I actually thought it was something edible, but then I realized I was thinking of paella. If it IS food, I'll have to eat the hat I voted for.
We need more votes. Unfortunately, we missed Hab's, I am afraid (my fault - should have done it earlier). I am interested in arnie's choice.
I've no idea. The "-ella" ending looks like it indicates something small, so I'll go for 3. (Nos. 9 and 12 are rather too obvious portmanteau words, he says confidently.)
Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.
Any more guesses?
We've had arnie's guess now. Do we need any more? Can you recall any time when he's been wrong?
I'll guess 5.
I thought the "ella" might indicate small, also, but that seemed too obvious. At one point I considered the small apartment answer. Mine was just a total guess. Then, I went back and forth between 3 and 8 as to which make the correct one and the other the most creative.
Or maybe #9
Could be #12.
Unless this is a trick and the real answer has been omitted.
Give a man a fish and he can eat for one day; give a man a fishing pole and he will find an excuse to never work again.
Nollidj is power.
Okay - once again arnie has won. The correct answer is #3. Though I'll have to give Sattva 1/2 point, I think.
Here are the authors:
2) Kalleh - Bob's choice
3) Correct definition - arnie, as usual; Sattva chose it as a creative choice.
5) Sattva - Geoff's & Tinman's choices
6) Sattva - I think Proof's choice, but I am not sure
9) Geoff - runner up for Proof
12) Hab - runner up for Proof
Apologies to Sattva! I forgot to list one of hers, and I bet someone would have chosen it because it's very creative:
In horticulture, the area between the stigma and the ovule of a flower.
Disappointed that no one chose my barber's chair. I quite liked that one. A good variety of definitions.
I liked it, Bob. I might have chosen it, had I been able to.
Good grief, I didn't realize the game was over!
Who has the next word?
>harhar< These were great. Sorry I was too late vote. Whereohever did you hear of that that obscure object?
Small tampon cracked me up. My mother used to call our supplies "firecrackers" and "mouse-mattresses."This message has been edited. Last edited by: bethree5,
