Limerick Game: Cust
Not because I have to, but because I came across this little town and thought it had rhyming potential ... the next limerick game destination is CUST .... no problems rhyming this one, haha.

I can't say I've been there but I know the area - rural Canterbury farmland stretching across to a magnificent mountain range known as the Southern Alps. http://www.visitwaimakariri.co.nz/new-zealand/Cust/

I can't find anything foodie (or much else) to write about Cust except that it's near Oxford, where one of our most famous cooks Jo "Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy" Seagar has set up a cooking school that's booked out years in advance.

For some reason that reminds me that I really enjoyed the movie 'Julie and Julia' recently, especially because I used to watch reruns of JC's cooking show on TV here years ago. Meryl Streep is terrific as usual and the relationship between Julia and her husband is truly endearing ..... it's hard to believe we used to eat all that butter though!!!

Anyway, back to business ....

You've complained 'bout the rhymes. Well here's Cust.
Should be easy to limerick, I trust.
I made like a good fella
And sent one to Stella,
Though to end this one here I'm nonplussed.

We invite all the newcomers to join the contest by sending a limerick based on "Cust" to Stella by PM. Please don't attempt to deliver it personally unless you REALLY like New Zealand.

I do, thanks Bob, Richard, Kalleh, Proof - any more Cust-busters?

What’d be a good name? I thought Cust’d.
It’s easy, it won’t get you flustered.
So write ‘em in clusters -
They’re short (not blockbusters) -
And see just who’s Cust cuts the mustard.

Yes, I'd love to visit it sometime.

Today I just cussed and I cussed,
Having sent in my lim'rick on Cust. (Yes, Richard, I know it's a homophone!)
The loser I wrote
Won't get a sweet vote;
I'll thrust it to dust in disgust!

True - but it does rhyme the whole word - unlike the final rhyme in L5 Wink

I missed it by a mere 1,500 miles; I was in Sydney. It's a shame we don't have a few more antipodean Wordcrafters, or we could consider having our 2010 gathering in New Zealand. Mind you, it's a bit of a long ride for us in the UK.

Jeb Raltar returns! I knew you'd all recognize the author so I didn't submit these.

Jeb Raltar, while stationed in Cust,
Was implored by a lady in lust
To forget it was sin
And to place his thing in.
He said, “No, since I fear you will bust.”

But the lady so lustful in Cust
Importuned him. “I know I shan’t bust.”
So Jeb thrust in his bone
which then split the old crone
And he just shook his head in disgust.

Would anyone else like to add a Cust?

I don't like to name names so I'll just say "How about it a - z"?? Big Grin

24hrs till judging.

PS: And thanks for nice words about NZ, bethree and Kalleh. Smile

I've copied arnie's formula for the poll and hope it comes out OK.

We have 12 limericks - some authors have been positively rampant this time round!! Big Grin - and I expect the voting will be a bit sparse. But we're still giving this a try, right...???

Game on Cruises Street, Limerick

I just have to point out (again), that I showed him my adult bus ticket, and my 3V card. You must be at least 16 to get these. My name was on both. I showed him my bank card which proved that I was in fact that person (or a criminal).

If I truly was 14, why would I go to so much trouble to prove that I was AT LEAST 16, and have so much evidence (bar the "photo ID"). The only photo ID availabe to a 15 year old (which I would have had to be to get the game) is a passport. What person carries their passport with them every day whenever they go out?

Hi Folks,

I know this game's over but now that you've got me hooked, and with such a tempting town, this one just popped into my head:

He had a big donger and she a big bust,
Did the amorous couple in Cust,
But when his fountain flopped
And her mountains popped
They rapidly fell out of lust.
