This game's been idle for too long, IMHO, so here's a new one: Nestorian (Not having to do with the Homeric Nestor)

I note that several guests sign on here regularly. I invite them to become members, then send a Private Message (PM) to me with a fanciful "daffynition" of this term. If you know the true definition, don't tell anyone until the daffynitions and the true definition are published. If you don't know the true meaning, all the better! Do NOT look it up - that's cheating!

Thanks, WM. I'll hold this game open until I get a couple more people. There's gotta be more than five! Welllll, maybe not, but I keep hoping...

Haberdasher supplied one, so we're getting close to a quorum - if there is such a thing in this game. Heck, I started it, so I ought to know - but I don't. Frown Confused

Last call before I publish the daffynitions and ask the real Nestorian to stand up.

1. A wise old man.

2. A private investigator who tries to find that nest egg you just know Granny stashed away somewhere.
Stella's contribution.

3. A follower of the twentieth-century Gnostic scholar Nestor Perala.
I tossed this in. Nestor Perala was a local "colourful character."

4. The time period related to when Ivor Nestorling was Prime Minister of Norway.
Proofreader's. (This was my personal favourite!)

5. Concerning the brooding habits of various extinct prehistoric birds.
Proofreader the second.

6. Prone to sudden outrageous bursts of anger.
Bob Hale's.

7. Concerning the teachings of Nestorius, Archbishop of Constantinople in the early 5th Century.
This, of course, is the winner. Why "of course?" Well, arnie picked it, didn't he? :-)

8. Someone who studies the legends and facts of the Loch Ness Monster.
Caterwaulllllllller's.

9. A student of the history of nests; one who identifies birds and other species by the characteristics of their nests.
Wordmatic's.

10. An obscure Celtic dialect spoken by a dwindling population of the Outer Hebrides.
Wordmatic's second effort.

11. A follower of (Er)nesto (Che) Guevera during the Cuban Revolution. Nestorians were a major factor in some of Castro's most audacious victories, not the least of which was the Bay of Pigs debacle for the US.
Haberdasher's.

12. A narrative of fictitious events.
Kalleh's.

A dozen from which to pick. Now, will the real Nestorian please stand up?

Some of them seem a bit too comical, some of the name ones seem to be based on first names and second are more usual so I'll go for 7 as well please.

Yes, I'd say since the word has a capital N it's probably someone's name - so I'll pick one not yet chosen - #4, thanks. Was there ever a man called Ivor Nestorling? I dunno, but it's a great name!
