This week's exciting limerick destination is Columbus, as it should be.

Please send me your limericks by PM and possibly I'll post them after I get back from said destination!

Mine's in. Richard gave me some good workshopping tips. I hope that's not cheating!

Sorry. I haven't done any yet and I'm out tonight. I'll try to get something to you by tomorrow.

I have yours, Bob, and three others. Any more? Surely some of those who were in Columbus who have not yet composed might be inspired????

Will give it another couple of days, and then I'll pick a winner!

Richard, get yours in! I think you should write about Barley's.

Barley's would be easy enough - but it's supposed to be Columbus in the A-rhyme position, and that's a far more difficult task. But I'll see what I can do.

I didn't mean that Barley's would have to be rhymed, Richard. I just meant that since we frequented it, you might find it fun to use.

BTW, CW, you should definitely write one.

Actually I found Barley's just as tricky as Columbus! But I have now written one.

It's written and submitted. In fact, I wrote it while I laid around on the couch while you all were at the zoo!

Returning tardily to this game, I present you
The Columbus Collection:

From Richard English:
In our Chevvy we drove to Columbus
And I'll tell you it really was some bus.
Down the roads it would roar
At eighty or more
When the traffic around didn't stump us.

From Caterwauller:
There once came a group to Columbus
who were Wordcrafters, linguists among us.
We drank lots of beer
and sang with great cheer,
But sadly they had to leave from us.

From BobHale:
I've tried dumb bus and glum bus and some bus:
I've tried gum bus and hum bus and numb bus
But there's nothing makes sense
And it's making me tense
I can't find a good rhyme for Columbus.

From Kalleh:
I am trying to get to Columbus
On this bouncy and bumpy old dumb bus.
It's noisy and hot,
And it smells of dry rot.
I hope it will stop and just dump us!

From Jerry Thomas:
When it's morning in urban Columbus,
Numerologists spill crumbled numbers.
Sweepers, then, spic and span
Retrieve what they can
And shovel them into their crumb bus.

This was an impossible one to rhyme, but everybody gave it a good run for its money anyway. It's so hard to choose, so I choose Caterwauller for the sentiments expressed , as our next limerick game hostess. Thanks, CW, and here's my limerick to you:

It was years since I'd been to Columbus,
And I found it now worthy of some fuss.
The skyline had sprouted;
We out and abouted
Through U's, brews, zoos, mews--an up-thumb-plus!

This was really fun! Thanks for the nod, WM. I'll start a new thread with a new location to rhyme. Yay!
