Yes, as it says, it is quite "objective" and "academic."
I've often wondered how etymology.com gets away with copying the OED so much. Sometimes it's just word for word. |

Agreed. The problem is, because he is usually correct (since much of it is based on the OED), people tend to take it for the gospel truth.

I once had a supervisor who was always spouting gospel. He would start out, "Ever'body knows ... " |
