There is a bit of a fuss being made over here about labour politicians not following the rules for declaring political donations. The latest to have allegedly failed to declare something is Alan Johnson.
I wonder if he was deliberately choosing his words with care in the interview I heard. He said "Everything we have done has been required by the regulations" rather than "We have done everything required by the regulations." "No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Interesting point, Bob. Whether it was intentional or not, there is a big difference in those sentences.

His version might however be correct if those regulations were no longer in effect
