Personification vs. Anthropomorphism
The first is defined as

quote:
A figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstractions are endowed with human qualities or are represented as possessing human form.


The second is

quote:

Attribution of human motivation, characteristics, or behavior to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena.


I know there is some difference between the two, but from the definitions, it isn't quite clear to me.

My understanding is that calling your car "Betty" is personification, but believing it won't start because it's in a bad mood is anthropomorphism.
