I've just discovered a recently-created site that I hope you vocabulary-lovers will enjoy as much as I do. This week's words are taken from the upper reaches of the quiz game there, and will get more and more difficult as the week continues.

Your task is to know-or-guess the meaning, from the choices provided. Answer tomorrow.

sastruga
1. absolution
2. wind-formed snow ridge
3. peace
4. chit-chat

This from Wordcrafter: Well, zmj, I managed to overwrite your post instead of replying to it. Sorry -- but yes, you get full credit! My thanks go out to you for finding the freerice.com site for us, as we've been discussing here.

It strikes me that it's unfair to challenge you with a vocabulary question, but then make you wait a day for the answer. From now, as soon as you've puzzled over the day's word as you like, you'll be able to find here its meaning and any related discussion.

Yesterday's sastruga is revealed there. Today's word is
    parhelion
    1. landholder
    2. sundog
    3. fireworks
    4. exaggeration

I've just found freerice.com thanks to this website -- it's cool! But I'm curious; how do they (and by they I am referring to the all-knowing and all-mysterious people who created the website) able to pay for the rice that is donated, and are they reaaaaaaly donating the rice? Regardless, it's a great idea, and it's a simple website -- I love it!
