"Elegiac" can mean expressing sorrow for that which is irrecoverably past; eg, from AHD: "an 'elegiac' lament for youthful ideals". Yet, it can also mean a poem or song composed of elegiac couplets(???) I have never heard of the latter. Can someone give me examples? I came across the word in a book I am reading, though it was referring to the first meaning.

I'm not proud--I'll answer myself! I found an elegy in Google. Never fear, it was written in the 1700s so I am sure the copyright has expired!
