I haven't seen this dictionary of "bizarre, odd, outdated and weird words" before. It's kinda fun, though my e-word isn't in it. Oh well!

Nope, but the lexicographer seems to be. No citations or references of any kind. From whom did s/he crib?

According to the foot of the first page,
quote:
There were thousands of words to choose from!
I chose those I felt were the most interesting and useful.
To see all of them get these books:

"More Weird and Wonderful Words" by Erin McKean

"Weird Words" by Irwin M. Berent and Rod L. Evans

"The Hidden Lives and Strange Origins of Common and Not-So-Common Words"

EDIT: What a throwback to 15 or so years ago! I thought those sites "designed" by MS Frontpage were pretty much defunct. I realise it's mainly aimed at kids, but that sort of web design really distracts from what might be interesting content.

Ah, well, if only I had made it to the foot of that busy page. So, at least I now know where the words came from. Thanks, arnie.

Yes, it is a busy page, you are right. And I only posted it because of a few fun words...certainly not as a scholarly site. It's no different from the Grandiloquent Dictionary or Worthless Word of the Day where the words are not authenticated.
