Delope.. delope.. delope, delope, delope.. delope, delo-o-o-o-pe
(To the tune of the Pink Panther)

Oh well, it seems that only two players are interested so here, with a couple of my own and the real answer, are their entries. Thank goodness both sent multiple suggestions.

1.a stutter between syllables

2.to remove the were-wolf curse by ritual (see also "exorcise")

3. the fascia onto which a sailing ship's figurehead is fastened

4. haggis made from hares

5.a subsidiary Greek Muse, whose area was satiric drama and poetry

6.the padded section of a dance belt

7.to have a public celebration of Marriage after previously running off to wed privately and unannounced

8.to fire your gun into the air or deliberately miss in a duel

9.(sardonically) to get a divorce or annulment in private and without fanfare

10.verse form with an odd number of lines where the first and last rhyme, the second and last but one rhyme and so on. The middle line rhymes with the first and last lines.

11.pseudo medical technique of eyeball scraping

Haggis made from a sweaty dance belt? Uh, probably not. Maybe #10?

I’ll choose number ten also. Sounds as if, like number 5, it should be pronounced “DELL-o-pee.”

Isn't haggis ALWAYS made from a sweaty dance belt?

Well this went well.
Two competitors and two guessers.

OK - New Game which Geoff and hab for obvious reasons are banned from entering.

Eleven entries...

One is right, two are mine, four are Geoff's and four are hab's. To win the super duper grand prize of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL* you need to identify not just the right answer but all of them.

(*No purchase necessary, participants must be over 18, terms and conditions apply.)

Oh well. To everything there is a season and this game's season is up. Not a terrific success but here are the answers.

1,3,4,6 were all Geoff
2,5,7,9 were all haberdasher
10, 11 were added by me

And the real definition was to miss deliberately in a duel, number 8.

Pity that it wasn't more of a competition.

If it's any consolation, you DID fool us both.

But the super prize of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING remains unclaimed. I know, I'll double it next time.

I made the poem one up but the other one - eyeball scraping - is real (though not called "delope").
