Style Invitational again
The Washington Post's Style Invitational contest is again looking for limericks in conjunction with the OEDILF. This time they want limericks defining words beginning with da-.

Thanks, arnie. That time seemed to come more quickly this year.

I'll be sending some in, though I've never won and certainly don't even expect a dishonorable mention!

I've submitted a half dozen or so.

I had a horrible time with this submission for some reason. I spent way too long on it! I did submit 3 today, finally!

After they've announced the winners, let's post ours, okay?

And the winners have been announced, so I will post mine. I certainly can understand why I didn't win; as I said above, these didn't come easily to me. On the other hand, my hopes were high, though I remain a WPSI 5-times loser. Oh well. I don't always like the ones she picks...so there! Further, others have liked mine. The popular Boing Boing Blog picked one of my limericks when they were highlighting the OEDILF site. And I've published 2 limericks when introducing book chapters, and those editors have been delighted. So go soak your head, Miss Empress! Mad

In the morning my husband will dawdle:
“The newspaper says that this fraud’ll
Put hundreds in jail!”
“Come ON, hon,” I hail!
“Hurry up or I’ll kick your cute caudal!”

To write one that’s right is a plight,
That dactyl that’s doubled’s not trite!
The irony is,
In the poetry biz,
Your dactyls create the delight!

While I sat in the beauty salon
That jerk took my Louis Vuitton!
That dastard is cunning
But as she is running,
Impeccable taste she will don!

For the last one, I'd like to switch "jerk" for "bitch." The second one? I am now trying to understand that one myself. Roll Eyes Let's just say, it needs a little work! I was trying to say that it's hard to write double dactyls (of course you'd have to understand double dactyls to get that one at all), but in the end it's that double dactyl meter that delights...I think! Perhaps when I submit it to OEDILF, the Workshoppers will help me with it.

Now Richard, Bob, and anyone else who entered the WPSI, it's your turn!

Can't, I'm afraid. I didn't enter this year.

It’s higgledy-piggledy-light!

Nice, Proof. Would you like to co-author that with me on OEDILF?

Bob, next year I think I'll sit out too. Enough is enough!

I posted one on the "poems" thread. I'll post some more later.

The only one that inked was about my sexual conquest of a girl from Darjeeling.
