Why we still need proofreaders
From Newsweekon-line: Media experts tell Newsweek that while Murdoch may be now performatively distancing himself and his organizations from Trump, Fox News might undergo a turbulent few months, but will still be the place to go where right learning viewers get their news.

See anything askew?

Ah well. Clearly a typo. I have noticed online editions aren't edited as well as paper editions.

I was more intrigued by "performatively"...

How's this for awkward phrasing? From the local newspaper: "He is one of at least 115 Hoosier workers who have have died on the job annually"

They each die once a year? Gosh, I thought once was enough!

Sounds ominous. Were they all in the same line of work? Does it happen only in Indiana?

OMG. Where were the editors?

I read a police blotter report in our little local paper, and they talked about the perpetrator "fleaing." I thought that was hilarious!

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the fly, “let us flee!”
“Let us fly!” said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

That has always been one of my favorites.

Or this:

Fleas

Adam had 'em

I always thought this was a Nash poem, too, but this site disputes that

Hilarious that they misspelled "misspell!"

What an entertaining article, Geoff. This is my favorite: “the Guardian carried an article from Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, giving a byline to Jatkuu Seuraavalla Sivulla, which a reader advised was not the author’s name but the Finnish for ‘continued on the next page’.”
