And here is one I'd have entered if I could

Nancy lives by the beach in Cape Cod.
From her porch she sees visitors plod
Past the dunes in Hyannis,
Unmindful her man is
Interred by her hand in her yard.

What I wished I'd thought of in time.

A young lad who was fishing Cape Cod
Saw a lass with a beautiful bod,
And struck by her beauty
He called out, "Hey cutie,
When you're done there come tackle my rod!"

I'd call that a winner, except you didn't enter it.

Is it a good idea to move either the bluffing game or the limerick game to the Word Games thread since they both conflict for space on the opening page?

I would probably appreciated number 3 better had I known what "scrod" is. It's not a term I've even heard used in the UK.

But I have voted anyway - not easy since there are some fine submissions.

I presume the last line is an allusion to the following old joke (taken from here):

A businessman arriving in Boston for a convention found that his first evening was free, and he decided to go find a good seafood restaurant that served scrod, a Massachusetts specialty. Getting into a taxi, he asked the cab driver, "Do you know where I can get scrod around here?" "Sure," said the cabdriver. "I know a few places... but I can tell you it's not often I hear someone use the third-person pluperfect indicative anymore!"

We created the "Word Games" forum to stop that happening, at a time when we were playing lots of games. That meant that the guessing game was often buried under the more active games threads.

We've only got two such threads going on here now, the guessing and limerick games, so they should live together without too much problem.

In case you think me illiterate based on the "Cpe Cod Limerick Game" title, I noticed the typo after I had set the poll but could not fix it without having to reset the entire poll. So I let it be.

This is based on an old joke from early in TK's life before he became "The Lion of the Senate."

Off a bridge on the Cape went a car
With a babe that Ted found in a bar.
He jumped in the bay twice
But not 'cause he was nice:
Once to cross her legs, then hook her bra.

Ah, well, don't I wish. Nobody voted for either of mine; Roll Eyes Shu won. He'll start a new game.

A worthy winner.

Was I the only one who liked the double entendre in Bob's number 9? Or is it just my mind? Possibly it would have been clearer had L5 read "your rod" rather than "that rod".

I really have to have a new artificial eye replacement. Although it would be better if the line in the poll was directly opposite the number it represents.

I agree; it's a confounded nuisance.
