FroeschleinThat Monday began just like any other workday at the Stetson factory in Fort Worth, but everything changed forever for Dub Catlett when the first shipment of the new and untested synthetic sizing agent was delivered to his work station in the blocking department.

The only problem Froeschlein is that now you've told everybody which is yours. You need to send one to me by PM not in the open forum.

CaterwaullerI can't tell you how many times I've almost done that same thing, Froesch!

)

<Asa Lovejoy>I just posted this to beg others to send Bob a first line! Did y'all fergit?
June 26, 2006, 06:12
BobHaleOK This has dragged on long enough.
The few entries I have are as follows.
1. Lemme tell ya, it ain't easy being married to Carmen Miranda.
2. What would you do if you lost your memory momentarily, only to awaken to find yourself standing naked in the Metropolitan Museum of Art?
3. Neurology's favourite word is 'deficit'.
4. Those who don't know that they don't know can be happy with their lives; those who do know that they don't know are often miserable.
5. He left his office that sunny day, whistling.
6. Whenever I encounter the truly bizarre, it invariably occurs under the most ordinary of circumstances.
7. It is a commonplace enough occurence to find oneself unable to to recall the precise word that one needs.

<Asa Lovejoy>I'll go for two. I've read the book, but I've forgotten the actual first line.

So maybe it's really three or four.

I'll still guess 2.
June 28, 2006, 10:44
saranitaI'll take number 3, sir.
June 28, 2006, 11:54
BobHaleThis is going to last forever... weeks to get enough answers to post and now only two guesses.

SeanahanI'll guess number 6.
June 28, 2006, 14:26
KallehSeis, please.
June 28, 2006, 20:11
CaterwaullerI like 6, but I think I like 2 better. I'll go with 2.

BobHaleOwing to rank incompetence and over-zealous houskeeping I'm unable to say who provided which answers here.
I'd forgotten all about this and its lucky you reminded me today as after Wednesday I'll be out of the country for three and a half weeks.
All I can tell you is that the correct answer was 3.
Sorry fot being unable to provide more detail but I'm sure you can all discuss it among yourselves and work out who fooled who.

CaterwaullerWell - guess this game isn't the success I'd hoped it would be. LOL Thanks for the answer, Bob. I don't remember which was my entry, either.

saranitaIt's a success with me, CW. I think it's a wonderful game.
Besides, I won. :-)

KallehYou know, this really is the story of my life. The
one time when people guess my submission, Bob forgets who submitted what.
I SUBMITTEED # 2!!!!

OK, winner, post the first line from the next book!
It's frustrating that nobody picked mine, (4) since it was a paraphrase from the preface of the book, and it explains my own condition. #3 sounded correct, but I just couldn't remember if it was from this book or from
Awakenings. Now I know!!!

CaterwaullerI agree - Saranita - you're up!

saranitaI wrote #6 and fooled Seanahan and Kalleh plus guessed the correct answer (having never heard of this book, I might add), so you will understand that I have a swelled head about it all.
I'm way overbooked right now but will do my best to come up with something within a week or so. If someone else has an idea, please go right ahead. Otherwise, next time you see my name on this thread, you'll know the hook has been chosen and is ready for the bait to be carefully threaded on.
