As promised, the Galena limericks. Be lenient about the rhyming as I neglected to post how it is pronounced (though I suppose you could have looked it up. )

Also, some of you left instructions. Sorry - I was editing it as you were reading it apparently. The author wanted me to insert a URL, but I can't find that it's possible in the answers part; only in the questions part. So - I added an asterisk.

No problem. I deleted my question when I noticed you had fixed it A surprisong number of good entries - though most resort to adding random girls' names for the rhyme.
"No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson.
So many that made me smile - I had to find excuses to downrate one or another. Mostly it's for extra or missing syllables that disrupt the rhythm. I made 2 a cut above because of the alliteration.

Wait no longer. It's one of my favourite metal albums.

Wellllll.... it certainly is noisy! I think I'll stick to Brahms and Borodin.

Disappointed not to get any vote for 4. Maybe it’s one of those you need to hear

You're right, Bob, saying it in a faux- Italian voice brings out the humour. So, take one of my votes, then we'll have one each. Is that democratic or what? Uh, no it's Marxian! (Groucho)

The only issue for 4 was the rhythm - extra syllable in line 1, for example. Excellent concept, but a fractional-point deduction for execution.

That's why I say you need to hear it... done in the kind of Italian accent you might have heard in a seventies sit-com it works.

I just loved the rhymes in #2. I think sometimes they just sing to you - and sometimes they don't (even though they do to others).
As far as the meter, if they sing to you, you can often make them work, though not always. I agree, Hab, that meter is important.

I'll post a new location later today, once I can remember where I am right now. Senility stinques!
