haberdasherLimerick destination: GORE
After all, Halloween is tomorrow, yes?
GORE is a town about 35 miles southeast of Columbus, Ohio (have they named it "Indigenous Peoples, Ohio" yet?). Among other places, I dare say.
Let's take a week or two and send (PM) me some gory limericks, in honor of All Hallows' Eve.

It seems that the original title used "bare," not "bald." Rimsky-Korsakoff may have had a hand in the title change along with his re-orchestration.

BobHaleI've only ever seen it as "bare mountain" which is what the several versions I have all call it.

GeoffIt's all garbage to me, thanks to the composeer's name, Мусоргский. Y'see, "Мусор", which is the first part of his name, means garbage in Russki!

December 10, 2021, 14:55
KallehDecember is busy. He'll stop by, don't worry.
In the meantime, should we start another? Geoff, would you like to be the starter of another limerick? Yours are always so good!

GeoffI'd best not. I've been spending too much time on Fartsbook with Welsh folks, and I'd probably pick something like this:

I actually did one once on here...just for a joke. I haven't used the official welsh spelling... I have used a phonetic rendering of the name - as shown on the sign in the link - to facilitate pronunciation.
My home's Llan-vire-pooll-guin-gill-go
Ger-u-queern-drob-ooll-llandus-ilio
Gogo-goch, but don't ask,
I'm not up to the task,
So I always just say, "I don't know."

GeoffIf Haberdasher doesn't come back before Saturday I'm going to post mine and get it over with.
December 24, 2021, 19:36
KallehOh, yes, please do, Geoff. I am dying to write one!

December 25, 2021, 05:57
GeoffOK, here are mine:
I once met a lady from Gore
Whose house had a simple dirt floor
Woven willow her bed
Only thatch overhead
She swore that she didn't need more
There was an old codger of Gore
Who had a deplorable snore
His snores shook his bed
Shook him out on his head
He no longer snores anymore.

BobHaleWell these were mine, remember that when I wrote these it was Halloween
Though I've lived all over before
In Hell's Kitchen and Tombstone and more
Goblintown and Skull Creek
I've now found what I seek
And settled for blood... I mean good here in Gore.
(Note - Goblintown is in Virginia, Skull Creek is in Wyoming, Hell's Kitch and Tombstone I am sure you know already)
Though I used to reside down in Gore
I do not live there any more
I've not moved, no instead
I am simply quite dead
I was killed by the vampire next door.
When I moved to my home here in Gore
I found there were rumours galore
Of an ax-wielding clown
So I said with a frown
"I am sure you have room for one more!"

KallehWell, I had wanted you to start a new word, but okay - here is mine:
There once was a fella from Gore
Whose monotone voice made me snore.
He'd drone on all the night
(Ignoring my plight!).
This man was one Helluva bore!

tinmanHere's mine.
He came to the small town of Gore
He started his own private war
He maimed and he slew
And when he was through
There was blood and destruction galore

KallehThanks, Geoff. We'll try to be quicker with our submissions. Apparently we irritated Hab.
