Limerick Game: Kallista
Hi All,

Okay let's go back where we should have gone the last time I picked a town, which was Crackenback, the much easier to rhyme, Kallista.

As I pointed out in the Crackenback discussion, with Kallista you can gets lots of good enough rhymes especially in Ocker and Cockney English by forming the past tense of a verb ending in -iss and adding 'er. For example: missed 'er and kissed 'er. Similarly sister, Mister, resistor & blister all work. For the record the Ka- at the beginning is a schwa.

Kallista is a little village in the Dandenong Ranges, a beautiful spot not much more than an hour's drive from the Melbourne CBD.

So send me your limericks by PM and I will post a Poll when I have enough.

I've got to do this one because I am a bit of a kallista. Thanks, Greg, and congratulations on winning! I am thinking...

Got my first entry, and it will certainly take some beating.

My maternal grandmother used to hang rugs outside and beat them to get the dirt out. Did you mean something like that?

I just sent one. Well, I tried anyway.

I have only 3 so far, and one contributor holding off for fear their limerick might be "too" blue.

I'll see your nasty and raise you an obscene.

Hi Folks,

I have 6 limericks from 5 contestants, and I may chuck in one or two of my own, so that's probably enough to put them to the vote, so I'll give it 24 hours for any who almost have one ready to go.

Sounds like a plan! We are a little slow these days, unfortunately. But I am glad you have 6!

We're read to vote (for more than the limerick game Wink).

So I have 3 votes so far, but here's a hypothetical question, and I am not stating at this point what ones I like or do not like, but let's just surmise that nobody else casts a vote, and I then have to use my casting vote, to break the 3-way tie with one vote each. But if I was, as I should be, entitled to a normal vote, I may well vote for one of the limericks that has not yet received a vote, and that would make it a 4-way tie, and my casting vote would make it the winner, but as it stands it doesn't even get a vote? That's why the game-setter should be entitled to a normal vote! And by definition a casting vote is after all, an extra vote, not one's only vote.

I have an idea. Why don't we just let the person who is running a game decide how he or she wants the casting vote to work?
