There are some good ones there! I often think mine is good...even a possible winner...until I read the rest.

Shall we declare a winner? Have all the votes been cast?

Yes, I'd say so.

I'll post the details tonight when I get home from work (if I remember).

Any laggards: VOTE NOW!

Hi All,

OK - thanks! I guess that means I have to pick the town for the next game. Australia has a plethora of great place names upon which to base a limerick. I have two in mind at present. One would be relatively easy and lends itself to limericks of the saucy variety whereas the other is considerably more difficult but it is just such a great name for a town, I am thinking of going with it.

By the way is it de riguer (hope I spelt that correctly) for the game initiator to enter a limerick?

At some point someone will have to tell me (or point me to an archive where it is documented) how to set up the Poll.

Good one, Greg! Excellent example of alliteration and word play!

I'd say that the initiator can submit a limerick if the winner is being judged by poll. If the initiator was judging, then he probably wouldn't.

Congrats, Greg.

Oy vey. Not one single vote for me. It reminds me of a song from my childhood:

Nobody loves me,
Everybody hates me,
I'm going in the garden to eat worms!
Big fat juicy ones,
Little teeny skinny ones
Every kind of worm that I can find!

That's how I remember it, though the Internet has it lots of different ways. "Find" doesn't rhyme with "worms" so that's obviously wrong. But you get the point!

I have to say that, to my mind, this crop of entries was probably the best ever. Greg's is a worthy winner - for me it was the triple alliteration in L1/2/5 that was the clincher.

Both Kalleh's and Wordmatic's are good and in lesser company either might have won. I liked Kalleh's topical reference to the present financial woes and I liked Wordmatic's valiant attempt to do something with a difficult to rhyme Brighton landmark.

The fact that our standards are so high must be a cause for self-congratulation.

Ah, well, I've learned that I don't have the majority taste in limericks. I've noticed that while I don't get any votes, I also don't vote for the winners, either.

Somebody has to guard against a skunking. Wink
