Please send me, via PMs, your daffynitions for the word mongo.

Hey, folks, I only have one so far!

Please send me your daffynitions (fake definition) of Mongo, via PM. I will then post all the daffynitions, along with the correct definition, and people will choose whichever one they think is the correct definition.

Should have mine now - so why don't I have your etymology entry?

You both have mine, and I haven't managed to confuse the two yet! Big Grin

I'll send an etymology entry tonight, Bob. I've been running a conference in California and haven't been at my computer for a few days.

How about a couple more daffynitions?

I've been on the road non-stop lately and a bit MIA from WC. However, as Michael Jordan once said (and as I wish Derrick Rose would say!), "I'm back!"

Any more mongos?

Okay...tomorrow I will post the daffynitions, along with the real thing.

Here are the daffynitions and the one real definition. Choose the right answer and you'll win a secret prize!

Mongo means:

1) Oafish, from the character played by Alex Karras in the movie, "Blazing Saddles."

2) Spa Initialism: Men Only Naked - Girls Off (or in some spas "Out")

3) A monetary subunit of the tugrik

4) Twin brother of the evil villain in Flash Gordon movies during the 30s.

5) A spicy Cantonese dish.

6) A miscut stamp perforated only along one edge.

7) A breed of short-haired hunting dog native to Siberia.

8) Valley-speak, a variant of mondo, "very", "huge", as in "We're, like, in a mongo mess."

So guess away! I will warn you that two of the daffynitions are variants of one of the real definitions so be careful.

I was going to wait for Arnie's vote so I could join in the winning side but I'll jump on six.

No the faintest idea.

I shall try 8 and see if I'm right in a week.

Three's a lucky number in Mongolia*, so I'll try 3.

* Not really.

Where is Geoff when we need him?

I'll post the real answer tomorrow.

Okay. Here we go:

1) Oafish, from the character played by Alex Karras in the movie, "Blazing Saddles." - Geoff fooled Tom

2) Spa Initialism: Men Only Naked - Girls Off (or in some spas "Out")I tried...but nobody has an imagination!

3) A monetary subunit of the tugrik The real definition; guessed by you-know-who Roll Eyes

4) Twin brother of the evil villain in Flash Gordon movies during the 30s. Close, but no cigar, Proof (I say close because it was the fictional planet in Flash Gordon.)

5) A spicy Cantonese dish. Proof's...and not quite as close

6) A miscut stamp perforated only along one edge.Bob's clever one; fooled Proof

7) A breed of short-haired hunting dog native to Siberia.Bob's, but no takers

8) Valley-speak, a variant of mondo, "very", "huge", as in "We're, like, in a mongo mess." Arnie fooled Bob

So, once again, Arnie is our big winner. He fooled someone with his and he chose the real definition. Arnie, I award you the gold medal!

Who's up next?
