In case you expert anagramers (I don't post here much because I just don't have your expertise!) missed Bob's plea in the Written Word to help him with L5 of an acrostic/anagram limerick, I will alert you here. For some reason the site won't let me search tonight so I can't link to that thread. If you want to have some fun, see if you can write a more sensible L5 for Bob.

Thanks!

Now...continue with Hab's 18-letters, 2 words, "a bit technical" anagram! Wink

June 09, 2005, 09:19

Do you mean "CHARICATURE", the cartoon-like drawing that captures the essence of the subject in just a few strokes?

The prescriptivist in me says it's a spelling demon, and doesn't have an H in it, thus CARICATURE. OneLook.com has it without the H.

The ultimate descriptivist may be Google; it just hunts and counts, even misspellings, as long as they're out there. Google has 14,400 hits for CHARICATURE but 1,770,000 for CARICATURE.

Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer choice. (Or "cherce," if you're from Brooklyn.)

It's LAVIOSIER.

I put made-up words in not-bold font so you can recognize a tongue-in-cheek proposal from a serious one. VARIOLISE sounds reasonable but I made it up out of roots and suffixes. ("Suffices"? And what's the plural of "apteryx"?)

MRS. ANNIE M.
