Bluffing Game: Hohlraum
Since the only person who'll positively know this word's usage in English (it's a German loan word) doesn't participate in this game, I'm hoping nobody else knows it. Give it a try - send me a PM daffynition.

It's clear that I should have kept my mouth shut about only one person knowing it for sure!

1. Term for an empty–headed, brainless dimwit.
Stella's submission.

2. In radiation thermodynamics, a cavity whose walls are in radiative equilibrium with the radiant energy within the cavity.

The real thing, as Bob, arnie, and Stanley surmised. I learned this word while visiting here: https://lasers.llnl.gov/ It's the container for the target of all these monster lasers.

3. A toilet stall or outhouse
Beethree asked if we do "wqlk-ins." She walked right into David Franks's outhouse! Ewwww!

4. An aperture in the front of a medieval German knight's jousting helmet.

Proofreader's submission

5. An ancient word for an amalgam of bronze and iron.

Also Proofreader's

6. The inner sanctum; the holy of holies.

Wordmatic got Stella feeling all holy, but it's heresy! Don't anyone burn anyone else at the stake, OK?

7. The hole left in a wall by bricklayers for the later installation of a window.
Arnie's hole defenestrated WM.

8. The feeling of ecstasy that Schizophrenics can experience when they commit murder.

I wonder who Kalleh was thinking of when she wrote this one?

9. An insult. Equivalent to "airhead".

Bob Hale's submission

10. Early German word for "brassiere," now an haute-couture dress with an accentuated bodice.

I submitted this uplifting item just for Proofreaders pleasure. Big Grin

I have a feeling the correct answer is #10, even though I know the modern synonym in German is "Overdershoulderboulderholder."

Nein, ist "keepumfrumfloppen."

Purely because I have absolutely no idea what it means, I'll tale number two please.

This selection of suggestions for the German for bra are amusing. But so is the real word - Büstenhalter.

Do you take "walk-ins"? If so, I'll try #3.

I like the sound of #6.

I'll take 2. for the same reason as Bob.

I'm leaning towards No.2 as well, because Mr Lovejoy was pretty certain that one person would know the definition and that suggests it's rather specialized. Unless he just meant because they're German. Which he might have done.

Oh, heck. I missed the selections!

I think I would have chosen #9.
