Back in 1993 Kalleh said, "The Washington Post's Style Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition." And arnie has now alerted us, The Washington Post is running this competition again, with a slight difference: the word must begin with A, B, C or D.
So it seems to me that it's time to restart the our thread. One thing to add: The current rules permit you to add, subtract or replace one letter or to transpose two letters.
