BobHaleFrom my favourite movies podcast
Another podcast that I listen to is the Kermode and Mayo film review podcast (which incorporates their actual radio review program). This week's episode had a couple of language-y things.
First there was the comment from right-wing comedian that described presenters Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo as "hard-line centrists", a phrase that is glorious in its meaninglessness as if he had said "They are militantly non-militant" or "extreme no-extremists".
The second thing was a new word for me. We are all used now to the word "prequel" to describe a film that is a sequel set before the movie it is a sequel to. What about "requel" which as film that is both a sequel and a reboot of an original movie.

Geoff"Requil" sounds like some patent medicine that you've already taken.

BobHaleThey thought it was ridiculous too and roundly took the p*** out of the guy who had made the comment. They kept on coming back to it throughout the program.
