KallehThe $6 million word...
EscheatmentI hadn't heard of it. A property "escheats" when it returns to the state because it has been abandoned or left by a person who dies with no legal errors.
Why a $6 million word? Because the Cook County comptroller found $6 million in something called the "Treasurer Indemnity Fund Escheatment."
After a few other findings, like the $14.1 million from the "Unknown Heirs Legal Settlement," amazingly the 2004 Cook County budget was in balance, as the law demands. Methinks I smell a rat! Shall we call this "Enronomics?"
Have you ever heard of "escheatment?" Perhaps it is just a U.S. word.
