A memo circulated to all staff from the canteen at my place of employment asks people who have borrowed "table clothes" to return them.

I know what "table cloths" are but what are "table clothes"?

That is funny, Bob.

For me "cloths" and "clothes" is easy. However, other types of words with es aren't, such as "envelope" vs. "envelop" or "potato" vs. "potatoes" or "tomato" vs. "tomatoes."
