Then I felt that feeling, that wonderful feeling, where disgust at someone’s self-righteousness becomes epicaricacy when you realize they were wrong about the very point they were so self-righteous about.

Ignoring the author's use of the e-word, I must say I agree with the main sentiment expressed: that mistakes in spelling and punctuation are wrongly called grammatical errors by too many prescriptivists.

It is a strange conceit and just part of the casually smug ignorance of what grammar really is that keeps some folks agitated and highly strung.
