QI
The latest episode of QI features a LOT of language related stuff.

You can find it here.

I was going to post some of it but as the show went on I decided it was better just to link the whole thing.

Shu loves QI! The panelists all look very English to me. (Is that racist, do you think?)

Well they are all English except for the host Sandi Toksvig who is Danish. I am curious about what someone who is "English" looks like though.

A fine example of when a comma really is necessary. Big Grin

Don't give her ideas. I can imagine it now. The only thing I can't imagine is who would buy it but I know someone would. Especially if she made the price high enough.

(for those who don't know what we are talking about the QI episode that started this thread asked a question about what makes a good sandwich and the answer, apparently was one that has been sat on.)

Does the US have QI style panel shows? We have quite a few on TV and radio. Have I Got News For You, Would I lie To You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock The Week and a host of others. The formats are all broadly similar. Several comedians or other celebrities answer questions in witty or amusing ways. Some are sharper or more satirical but essentially it's a similar idea. Do you have any over there? I'd be interested to see some.

I don't think there are any here. We're just not that well-educated for the most part.

I don't thing that's true. It's just that different countries have different kinds of programs. For example we don't have any programs like the late night shows you have with Colbert or Seth Meyers or Trevor Noah. The closest we have come was a recent fairly short lived series called The Mash Report but it wasn't really the same kind of thing, just similar.
