Gender neutrality
Today's Providence Journal describes an effort in Massachusetts to require gender neutrality in legislation. The bill itself can be found here, and its history here.

It is commendably short:

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the General Court shall forthwith draft and enact legislation that contains gender neutral phrases, including, but not limited to he/she, his/her or any similar words.

Have others seen similar endeavors?

Canada Department of Justice: "The use of the singular "they" is becoming more common not only in spoken but in written English and can prove to be useful to drafters in a legislative context to eliminate gender-specific language and heavy or awkward repetition of nouns."
