Political Cliches
In the U.S. we are involved with an election campaign, even though the election isn't until November 2016. So the cliches are prevalent. Here are some that one author, in the Chicago Tribune, hates:

#1. Kicking the can down the road - stalling

Sucking up all the oxygen in the room - "I am talking so much about the jerk that I don't have time to talk about any other candidates — let alone the odd possibility that I might talk about an issue."

Authentic - You know, Trump is, Hillary isn't; Sanders is, Jeb isn't; etc., ad nauseam.

Optics - the way things actually are.

Unpack an idea - explain or define.

Branding - Conjuring up a delightful image, which really conjures up the candidate having a red-hot iron applied to his or her bare backside.

Iconic - A cultural figure who has been around for maybe 5 years.

At the end of the day - banishing the seventh circle of hell!
