Why do these remind me of the "anti-limerick:"
There was a young man of St. Bees, Who was stung on the nose by a wasp. When asked, "Does it hurt?" He replied "Yes, it does, But I thought all the while 'twas a hornet!"
attributed to W. S. Gilbert, no less.

Why do these remind me of the "anti-limerick:"
Because, I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way? I enjoy constrained light verse about as much as the next guy, but there is just something in me that rebels. But WSG ain't taking the credit for these (nor the blame). They are 100% zmjian.

Feel free. Rebellion is a respected and venerable virtue.
The attribution is from Pearson's Magazine, 1903 as you can see. I had heard it, or at least recalled it, differently, with the last line being "But I'm so glad it wasn't..."
(I see along URL instead of an underlined link...have to go figure out why)
[Corrected; I just cut it down to exclude the words you searched on which had an apostrophe in it. Those apostrophes cause way more trouble than they are worth. ]This message has been edited. Last edited by: zmježd,

OOO GOTCH-a, Kalleh! Rod's first name is... MILOROD. Course you're a local so you may have the inside track here-- maybe he adopted 'Rodney' as well as Rod. Regardless, LOVE the bile. Pls see my DD on RB on your Poetry Month thread.

Can it be seven years since we've tried double dactyls?
Here's one:
Hump-etty, Dump-etty, President Trump-etty Debuted with Orders and Tiff after tiff.
All the Republicans Enthusiastically Climbed on his wagon and Plunged o'er the cliff.

I've been thinking about DDs recently, too, Bethree.

Ha, ha, Kalleh and Geoff! Just checking back in thought nobody was interested. I love "tiny-hands Trumpster". And "epicaricity, Schadenfreude's brother," what a couplet! Trumspter and dumpster... Meaning and demeaning...
You've both inspired me!This message has been edited. Last edited by: bethree5,
