What's the limit?
A national awning company has been using the same TV pitch for at least five years. During the ad, one spokesperson says you can get $200 off your purchase but the offer is only for a "limited time".

What is considered a "limited time"? And is five years pushing the limit?

I know this one...

From having suffered multiple sales pitches from double-glazing salesman, I can state categorically that "a limited time" is twenty-four hours from WHENEVER THE OFFER IS MADE.

And, of course, the offer can be indefinitely remade but the salesman will be doing a special favour for you and you are not to tell anyone else.

Why do some car makers place "Limited" on their most common models?

I am sure it's just to make you want it more - but, theoretically, it could be the third definition of "limited," which is: "characterized by an inability to think imaginatively or independently; lacking originality or scope; narrow."

Right on.
