shufitzFrom the papers: "orotund"
I'm continually surprised at how often the newspapers teach me a new word. This today, in a review, saying a book about the U.N. is
... a narrative so ponderous that it could easily have been crafted by the U.N. itself. Like low swells on a wide sea, Mr. Kennedy's orotund phrases roll on and on.
orotund: 1 (of the voice) resonant and impressive.
2 (of writing or style) pompous.
from Latin
ore rotundo ‘with rounded mouth’.
