Sell-through
From a novel:
quote:
It didn't seem to matter to the glib talk-show host that her books had an average eighty-five precent sell-through, which was phenomenal in and of itself. Doing television meant she had to cope with the one-liners. All Lowell was looking for was the laugh.
In context I can understand what "sell-through" means, but is it an everyday term in the publishing industry? Can anyone shed more light on the term or on the meaning?

It seems to be a business term, meaning retail sales to customers.
