Another good word from Simon. What do you think of it? Goes right along with swordsman and rifleman.

Except that a scimitarsman is a swordsman anyway but I applaud the attempt. I can't fault his logic.

I've always loved the sound of the word scimitar. It sounds like what it is. But if I was coining a term, I'd call a scimitarman, a yataghan-man. I'm glad you're letting your son play with his language rather than telling him to use the words that are in the dictionary.

Oh, many would attempt it.

Play is one of the things I do best, anyway. No point in going against the natural order of things.

Have you read Johan Huizinga's Homo Ludens? (Playing Man.) (A play on Homo sapiens 'thinking man' and Max Frisch's Homo Faber 'worker man' (as in woodworker, smith, stoneworker), though it is really the name of his protagonist, Walter Faber. A difference between the Dutch and the Swiss?

I haven't, but I've just reserved it and will read it when I get the chance.

Hey Simon,

How about a snicker-snackman armed with a vorpal blade?
