Does Further now mean Farther? http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q...JE3YNqyCvSOSQO27BnGR

Two points.

1. Despite the usual prescribed usage (farther = physical distance, further is more metaphorical), almost everyone has used the terms interchangeably for... well for as long as they have existed.

2. Even given the prescription the ad seems quite clever to me playing on that very distinction - you can physically drive farther but buying our car is metaphorically going further in getting the very best.

Hmmm - Interesting question, Geoff. Farther seems correct, but further sounds better. I am thinking - it takes you more into the future?
