cod Yiddish
My book refers to a father who spoke "cod Yiddish." I can't seem to find much about it on the Web. Does anyone know what it is?

Well "cod" just means "imitation" so I'd guess it means he didn't speak Yiddish at all just made sounds that sounded vaguely Yiddish in tone and sprinkled in the odd Yiddish word.

It's a bit like adopting a vaguely French accent and saying "oui" and "non" every now and then.

This raises the question of what English sounds like to people who don't understand it. Until I heard this song, I never knew.

That makes sense, Bob. I didn't realize it would be that simple.

Nice video, Guy!
