shufitzPersuasion
quote:
A suicide bomber blew himself up on a Jerusalm bus, killing at least 18 people ... It was unclear how Israel would respond to the Jerusalem blast. ... [Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmmood] Abbas, who was meeting militants in Gaza to try to persuade them from attacks on Israelis when the blast occured, urged restraint.
How do you feel about the phrase
"persuade them from"? It seems off to me.

KallehYes, I like dissuade better. "Persuade them from" seems awkward to me, and I think it could be misinterpreted.
