new eponym
I googled this without result, but this one is written in a book about automobile racing that came out in 1972 or thereabouts, regarding the McLaren and Lotus racing teams. I raced a Lotus m30 then, and this event was very real and resulted in the term "doing a Dibbie". An English driver named Dibbie roared to the crest of a curvy hill and went airborne at well over 120mph, flying off into a stand of trees next to the course. It became an expression of sorts for years, as the phenomena of turning into an airplane at a hill crest is not uncommon.

When I drove my DeTomaso Pantera in 1972, my last race ended when I did a dibbie, rising only a foot or two before sailing off the track into a solid little hill at 100mph.

May I, in old Dibbie's memory ask the more learned among you to obtain a second mention of my proposed eponym? My book was lost in flood, and later (almost) in memory.
