Is there any relationship between
curate the official of a church, and
curator the official of a museum?
Yes. They both come from the Latin word
curare "to take care of". See
Online Etymology Dictionary.
Before you ask, the poison
curare has no connection. According to the same source it's from Spanish or Portuguese and is
quote:
a corruption of the name in the Carib language of the Macusi Indians of Guyana, wurali or wurari, which had a sort of click sound at the beginning, and is said to mean "he to whom it comes falls."
