'Windy' Flattery
Is there an etymological relationship between 'flattery' and 'flatulence'?

I've never read anything to suggest it. To flatter is connected with the Latin (and other) word s for 'flat', i.e., planus. Flatus and flatulence are both cognate with to blow.

LOL - great question, Shu! Good to know they're not related.

I thought a flatulence was an emergency vehicle that picks you up after you are run over by a steamroller. Big Grin
