Squint
Our new CEO is from Scotland, and we are learning some new uses of words (as well as accents). This one I couldn't find in Dictionary.com. He was on a plane that was having a rough flight. Someone texted him about how his flight was, and he said, "It was a bit squint, but I made it." Squint? Have you heard that word used that way?

http://caledonianmercury.com/2...s-word-squint/007149 I guess we English speakers don't speak enough Scottish.

Scottish spelling confuses us too. For example, when the Loughead brothers moved to the USA, precious few knew how to pronounce their name, so they changed it to Lockheed, retaining the phonetics thereby. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Corporation
