In what way is a detailed knowledge of the Narbonics comic strip (wherein you would find Lupin Madblood) necessary to understand the "There's no plate like chrome for the hollandaise" pun that the entire shaggy dog story builds up to?

Oh the punch line, such as it was, was clear enough. But the overall scenario made little sense to me.
It's rather as though one were faced with a similar story set in an aboriginal village where one knew nothing of the inhabitants or their ways. I believe that all stories are better if one knows about their settings. Richard English |
