Here's a dictionary about new English words from Rice University. It probably is based on absolutely nothing, but it has some fun words, such as sarcastrophe or mallrats (teens who wander through malls).
Perhaps the creators should have checked before listing their "new" words. Among the first I saw was "back story," referrring to a fictional characters life before the story begins. I found one reference to it in 2000 and I think I've seen it in a few writing how-to books even earlier than that.
Later: Look at "car-jacking." They quote its use in a newspaper dated 1996. This is new?
Note that I wasn't loving it; I just found it as I was looking something else. Perhaps, though, I shouldn't have posted it. Oh well. I guess this is one resource we can live without. Sorry.
